Construction Inspector III

SAM-Construction Services, LLC (SAM-CS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Surveying And Mapping, LLC that specializes in construction services. Our engineering services include a full range of construction phase services, including construction inspection and observation, quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) management, contract administration, and the development of quality manuals and specifications. Position Summary:

SAM-CS is currently seeking a Construction Inspector III. The candidate will be involved with management and construction oversight associated with projects working directly with the Project Manager.  These projects include construction management associated with maintenance, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of existing projects for TxDOT and other local governmental agencies.

The ideal applicant will have an understanding of construction manuals, standards and specifications, and general construction practices associated with TxDOT projects. This position entails both field and office assignments along with limited travel.

• Under the review and direction of Project Manager, perform field inspection and oversight of construction activities
• Ability to lead a team of construction inspectors
• Maintains daily reports of inspection work along with detail records of project progress
• Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to read and interpret plans, specifications and applicable standards
• Review Contract documents to verify compliance with governmental regulations and conformance with project requirements
• Assist with coordinating materials sampling and testing and verifying sufficient testing has been performed
• Verify accuracy of payment requests and invoicing for completed work
• Experienced with Texas DOT  construction inspection and procedures
• Ability to coordinate with contractors’ staff and effectively communicate with all parties
• Performs standard mathematical calculations
• Able and willing to work day or night shifts and/or flexible schedules as required to support the project requirements
• Ability to lift 50lbs

• 10-15 years of experience in Construction Inspection for Transportation projects
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience with traffic control (State Barricade/TCP Standards, TMUTCD’s)
• Hot Mix Operations, 5-10 years minimum experience. TxAPA 1B Certification preferred, we can provide training/certification if required
• ACI Concrete Certification, we can provide training/certification if required
• General SW3P (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan)
• Possess Texas Roadway experience and/or TxAPA/ACI certifications
• Works well with minimal supervision
• Thorough knowledge of Texas DOT specifications and standards IS REQUIRED
• Site Manager software, Primavera and other scheduling software preferred 

Additional experience in the following

• Retaining Walls (MSE, Cast In Place, Soil Nail)
• Drainage Structures (RC Pipe)
• Traffic Signals
